IAC participated in the 3rd annual Indy Reads Spelling Bee presented by Verizon on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at the Hyatt in downtown Indy!

This fundraiser will help Indy Reads provide FREE tutoring for functionally illiterate adults in Central Indiana.

Sorors representing IAC~Team D-E-L-T-A:  Annie Mayes, Bridgette Liggons, Cicely Hart & Rev. Yowanda Bowens & alternate Pat Crittendon!

Congratulations to Team D-E-L-T-A for winning the “Team Spirit Award” at the Indy Reads 3rd Annual Spelling Bee!

The prize included:  100$ worth of gift cards to Whole Foods, a bottle of Wine, 4-reusable shopping bags (so we can start to Recycle Every Day while we shop), 12-Tickets to Comedy Sportz (valued at $180) and Spelling Bee T-shirts for all Sorors attending!

Eleven Sorors came out to show their support for Team D-E-L-T-A and Indy Reads efforts on eradicating adult illiteracy in Indianapolis!  We had a great time, especially during the audience bee!  We did not win bragging rights as the best spellers in Indy however, we were the loudest as we cheered for our team!  Soror Bridgette Liggons served as proctor for all three rounds!  There were 10 words selected for each round; Soror Rev Yowanda Bowens started us off in Round 1, followed by Soror Cicely Hart in Round 2 and finally Soror Annie Mayes in Round 3.  Soror Rosiland Jackson put our display table together and we also played the Chapter Slideshow!
