Congratulations to Soror Tanya Walton Pratt on her historic nomination to the federal bench. During a press conference on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, U.S. Senator Evan Bayh announced Soror Pratt as a nominee for the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana. If confirmed Soror Pratt would become the state’s first African-American federal judge. Soror Pratt currently serves as a judge in the probate division of Marion Superior Court. From 1997 to 2008, she was a judge in that court’s criminal division. Soror Pratt is a graduate of Spelman College, where she was initiated into Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, and Howard University School of Law.
