May Week is here!
Beginning May 9th thru May 14th, the entire community is encouraged to come out for IAC May Week 2011! Our theme is “Ninety Eight Years Old..and STILL Moving”-as a sisterhood that values service and scholastic achievement! We encourage you to “zumba” at the Madame Walker Theatre Center on Monday night with our National Second Vice President, Chelsea C. Hayes, “rejoice in red” on Wednesday with Bishop T. Garrott Benjamin, Jr. and the Light of the World Christian Church family and EMBODI the Arts on Friday night with Steward & Associates and award winning actor and author, Mr. Hill Harper at the Walker! On Saturday, we will close out the week with a Financial Fortitude workshop and our 2nd Annual Arts & Scholarship Program that will showcase our youth rogram participants as well as our community at Broad Ripple High School. You can also get involved by helping us to raise funds for worthy international causes throughout the week! So, let’s get MOVING and remember, in the words of our 24th National President, Cynthia M.A. Butler McIntyre, “Delta Sigma Theta is a MOVEment and NOT a monument”! So, get moving and don’t miss May Week 2011! Check out the May Week tab for event details and contact information!

March Book Mark Selection
In honor of Sisterhood Month, our Delta Bookmark March Selection is The Love Child’s Revenge by our national Delta Spotlight Author, Soror Nicole Bailey-Williams!
Claudie “Peach” Fryar is a vixen. Born to a mother who works as a domestic for the Harrisons, an affluent African American family who resides in Philadelphia’s East Oak Lane section, Claudia has felt like an outsider all of her life. She’s chubby, she stutters and she grows up with her nose pressed against the windowpane, peering in on the lives of the privileged Harrison girls. It’s not enough that they grew up attending elite events and holding membership in exclusive clubs, but the matriarch of the Harrison clan seem to revel in torturing young Claudia. Why? Her husband, the respectable Louis Harrison, is young Claudia’s father also! When he dies, Claudia’s mother is fired and the two are virtually run out of town, oblivious to the fact that Louis has made provision in his will to take care of his “love child”. When Claudia returns to Philadelphia years later after learning that she’s been cheated out of her share of wealth, she’s full of venom with an ax to grind! She’s vowed to get revenge for every privilege that she’s been denied and she’ll stop at nothing to get it!
