The Delta GEMS (Growing & Empowering Myself Successfully) is a national initiative that serves high school aged girls.  These young ladies participate in cultural activities, development workshops, and service projects led by Sorors who serve as facilitators.  The goals of the program are:  to instill the need to excel academically; to provide tools that enable girls to sharpen and enhance their skills to achieve high levels of academic success; to assist girls in proper goal setting and planning for their futures high school and beyond; and to create compassionate, caring, and community minded young women by actively involving them in service learning and community service opportunities.  Recently, IAC’s Delta GEMS successfully received a Youth as Resources Grant, on 2 separate occasions, for their Sister to Sister Project, that allowed them to interface with middle school age girls about several important topics such as STD’s & teenage pregnancy prevention.  This program averages over 50 program participants each year.
